DEFINITIONS OF SUSTAINABILITY

In 1987, the World Commission on Environment and Development developed a definition
of sustainability that was included in its findings, which became known as the
Brundtland Report.

It stated that:

Sustainable development meets the needs of the present
without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs
.

Although this definition has become widely publicized, the term sustainability
is not limited to one precise definition.
